I just had the pleasure of teaching a 2-part Chakra workshop to 8 lovely women. Last night we had a lively discussion of the Chakra's, how their energy may influence, support, and deepen our experience of life. While I was preparing for class, the following just poured out through my fingers onto the keyboard, and I'd like to share it:
Really, what is the purpose of yoga, of studying the Chakras, and of meditation??? We say things like 'opening the chakras' and 'clearing energy channels,' 'releasing blocks,' and 'connecting with our true self.'
Ultimately, we want to feel safe, connected, successful, loved, creative, insightful….. all of these qualities of Chakra's 1 through 6 lead to a stillness and peace within, a connection with all that is, learning that we are all the same, all connected, all one (7th Chakra purpose.) There is no separation, no loneliness, no discontent…. all of that is illusion or, in the Sanskrit language, 'Maya.'
